Doc Kyiv Fest presents: films from the Audience Documentary Film Festival will be screened at the 15th Odesa International Film Festival

This year, the 15th Odesa International Film Festival will present a special programme of Doc Kyiv Fest, an annual international documentary film festival for the public, founded by the NGO Kinofest with the support of the Odesa International Film Festival and Starlight Media.

The special programme of Doc Kyiv Fest includes 4 films:

"Matrix: Generation, dir. by Benjamin Clavel, 2023

At the end of the last century, the Matrix saga shook up an entire generation and topped the world box office. The film became a turning point in genre cinema. The documentary Matrix: Generation" explores the phenomenon of Wachowski's cult film and its impact on global pop culture.

"Cypress, dir. by Mykola Nosok, 2024

When Ukraine signs a visa-free regime with the European Union in 2017, 79-year-old self-taught artist Valeriy gets the chance to fulfil a long-held dream and go on his first trip to Greece, a country he could only imagine from images in films and books.

"Crimea. The Last Citadel, dir. by Andriy Mozgovyi, 2024

10 years ago, Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula. The documentary, created by the Facts of the Week project team and Andriy Mozgovyi, tells the story of the origins of the resilience of ordinary Ukrainians and whether the annexation of Crimea, which effectively launched Russia's great war against Ukraine, could have been avoided. The film's authors found the sailors of the famous Cherkasy minesweeper, the only one left who resisted for several weeks, preventing the Russian invaders from declaring Crimea captured. "We, Our Pets and the War, dir. by Anton Ptushkin, 2024

The film is about life, humanity, and the incredibly close bond between people and animals, which has become even more noticeable during the great war in Ukraine. The film's main characters are not only cats, dogs, bears, lions, lemurs and the Yemeni chameleon Ihor, but also the people who rescue them, risking their own lives. These are the stories of the military and volunteers, foreigners and Ukrainians, who help animals in bomb shelters and on the front line, at home and abroad.

We remind you that the 15th OIFF will take place from 12 to 20 July 2024 in Kyiv.
