Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024 together with Nataliya Moseichuk awarded a teacher in the category "Choice with the heart"
The nomination "Choice with the Heart" is intended to honor teachers who, despite everything, teach children in medical institutions. This year, a history teacher from Dnipro, Yevhen Kravchenko, was honored.
Previously, he taught history in secondary schools and a private lyceum. But when he found out about "Schools of Superheroes"—educational centers in hospitals where young patients are taught—he agreed to work there without hesitation.
Yevhen Kravchenko teaches at the "School of Superheroes" educational centers based on two Dnipro hospitals. He looks for an approach to each student, striving to be a support, not just a teacher.
"Brothers from Bakhmut. They arrived at the burn unit. With burns. Fifth graders. They tried to tell, and sometimes they told quite scary things. And you had to understand it, listen, give some support, some understanding that now everything is fine, now they are safe," the teacher recalls.
Nataliya Moseychuk, the presenter of the 1+1 Marathon, interviewer, curator of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine, and founder of the nomination "Choose with the heart," thanked the educator:
"This teacher went to children who have a tough life. He went alone. He didn't just teach them a history lesson, but he talked with them about the war and what Ukraine would be like in the future. Do you understand? When these children took him for their own. And I was extremely moved by it."
We remind you that the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024 is designed to celebrate the achievements of teachers not only in relation to their students but also in relation to society and emphasize the importance of teachers in Ukraine.
