How Ukrainians watched TV and which TV channels became the leaders of TV viewing in February 2023: Kyivstar TV analytics

In February 2023, on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, viewers were treated to a number of important documentary projects, specials, and programs covering the events of the great war.

At the same time, this month saw an important premiere of Ukraine's first original series created specifically for Kyivstar TV, as well as the launch of other TV products, the first results of which we will discuss in a special material.

Traditionally, while the Nielsen panel, which was engaged in TV measurement before the full-scale war, is being updated, the market continues to focus on viewing data from OTT platforms. In turn, Kyivstar TV provides relevant information for the TV ratings of the independent agency BIG DATA UA.

Top 20 TV channels in February 2023

According to the results of TV viewing in February, there were minor changes in the TOP 20 rating. Thus, New TV Channel, which mainly broadcasts movie hits and entertainment programs, remains at the top of the TOP, as in January, despite losing 1.6 percentage points of its share in February.

In turn, the 1+1 media group's TV channels continue to grow their audience and strengthen their positions. In particular, 1+1 Marathon, which was on the 3rd place in January, moved up to the 2nd position in the rating. 2+2 also broke through and moved up two places compared to January 2023, completing the top three. Accordingly, TET and 1+1 Ukraine were on the 5th and 6th positions. TV Channel Bigudi, which was ranked 17th in January, moved up to 13th place, gaining 0.3 percentage points in share.

As for the dynamics of the TV channels that appeared at the end of December 2022 - 1+1 Ukraine and ICTV2 - compared to January, 1+1 Ukraine remains at the 6th position in the TOP, while ICTV2 lost one position and moved from the 7th to the 8th position. By the way, on February 24, the daily share of 1+1 Ukraine reached 8.2%, which is the highest indicator for the channel in 2023, excluding January 1.
