UNDP and TV channel PLUSPLUS are teaming up to jointly promote sustainable development
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine and the PLUSPLUS TV channel have joined forces to promote environmental awareness among children and their parents, as well as sustainable lifestyles through an animated cartoon series on ecology and other joint educational products in the future .
Both parties will cooperate on spreading knowledge about environmental protection, integrating the animation project ECO PLUSPLUS. The animation was developed by the PLUSPLUS TV channel team, all episodes of which are available online and are also broadcast on the PLUSPLUS TV channel.
The permanent representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Dafina Gercheva, hopes for a fruitful partnership that will provide an opportunity to reach such an important audience with important messages about the environment.
"EKO PLUSPLUS was created for the young generation of Ukrainians, who will one day be responsible for trade, production and lead the country's leadership," Ms Gercheva said . "As children, they can already think about sustainable development, which will help them make good decisions in the future."
Mrs. Gercheva also added that this agreement between the parties provides a foundation for cooperation in the framework of animation, but also does not limit the future partnership of UNDP and PLUSPLUS in other areas . As stated in the Memorandum of Cooperation, the parties will work on a joint environmental campaign with the integration of ECO PLUS PLUS heroes and plots. The 1+1 media group, which owns the PLUSPLUS TV channel, will provide informational support aimed at environmental education and using the group's media resources. The initial term of cooperation is two years and can be extended by agreement of the parties and on previously agreed terms.
Ivanna Naida , general producer of niche TV channels 1+1 media, comments: "We are happy to start cooperation with UNDP to spread environmental awareness. For us, at PLYUSPLYUS, it is important to transform adult messages into an entertaining and educational format for communication with a children's audience. This year we chose the theme of ecology, and it is great news that the animation project ECO PLUS PLUS has attracted the interest of both the channel's audience and representatives of the international non-governmental sector. I am convinced that combining our efforts will help to make Ukrainian ones children and their parents more eco-responsible".
