Serhiy Zhadan fulfilled the dreams of two girls - daughters of fallen defenders of Ukraine.
The team of the 1+1 Media charity project “Zdiysny Mriyu” continues to help children of defenders realize their dreams.
Recently, the dream of the Children of Heroes Foundation's charges, 16-year-old Oleksandra Romanova from Makariv and 14-year-old Oleksandra Afanasenko from Kharkiv, who are fond of the works of writer and current serviceman Serhiy Zhadan, has been realized.
“It's touching to fulfill the girls' dream because when I was still a schoolgirl, I bought a book by Serhiy Zhadan at the fair and dreamed of meeting him in person. And now, it so happens that I am fulfilling the same girl's dream. They read a lot, they are motivated, and, by coincidence, they dream of becoming journalists. I am glad to be a part of making their dreams come true. Suppose such a small but touching moment can cheer them up. In that case, it means we are moving in the right direction, and our mission is being fulfilled,” says Natalia Ostrovska, anchor of 1+1 Marathon and TSN, mentor of the Zdiysny Mriyu initiative.
When the big war started, Oleh Romanov, the father of 16-year-old Sasha, went to defend Ukraine. For a year and a half, the family lived in a state of waiting, as the father was considered missing. Later, they received the most terrible news that Oleh was killed. Since she was 8, Sasha has been studying at a youth journalism studio and wants to connect her life with this field. That's why Natalia Ostrovska, anchor of 1+1 Marathon and TSN, mentor of the Zdiysny Mriyu initiative, invited the girl to the 1+1 Media office to share her experience and organize a long-awaited dream with her idol.
“It's great to see schoolchildren who know what they want to become. After all, the most important thing is to have a goal and go for it. Sasha is positive and pleasant. She has a vision of what she wants and is purposefully going for it. She understands what she wants to do. Children of real heroes should not be pitied, but loved and helped, given the opportunity to be themselves,” says writer and soldier Serhiy Zhadan.
Serhiy Afanasenko, the father of another dreamer, 14-year-old Sasha, was a senior driver of a military platoon's automobile unit. He faithfully and courageously defended Ukraine from the invaders. However, he was shot and killed in Bakhmut district. After the bereavement of her father, she found solace in the works of Serhiy Zhadan, reading his books and listening to his songs. Knowing this, the team of the Zdiysny Mriyu initiative organized a meeting with Serhiy in a cozy and atmospheric bookstore called KnyhoLand in Kyiv. Together, they talked about poetry, the girl's works, and the city that has united them for a long time - Kharkiv.
“She is a brilliant and sincere girl. Obviously, we have crossed paths in Kharkiv because she attends the same bookstores, listens to the same music, and reads the same books. In general, Sasha looks at life with wide-open eyes and has interests and trusts in this world. I always want to support and help such children,” says Sergiy.
In memory of their dream meeting with their idol, the girls received symbolic gifts from the 1+1 Media team and books signed by the author from KnyhoLand.
You can learn more about the meeting in a dedicated video on the official pages of 1+1 Media on Instagram and Facebook. Furthermore, this Sunday, October 27, at 9:00 a.m., on the TET TV channel, in the show “Closer to the Stars,” watch a story about how these cherished dreams came true.
