Yulia Yesaulova - Screenwriter

"I got a job at once on two television projects while studying at the School. Everything is possible? So! But on the condition that you know exactly what you are striving for."

"Well, did you get the job already for 1+1? Did they accommodate you, or did they take the money to Kyiv?". I am sure: almost every student of the Higher School of Media & Production has heard similar skeptical questions from "well-wishers". After all, when you find the "courage to grow" in yourself despite age, a different profession and even distance, there will definitely be those who will wish you "success", twisting the muzzle in their pockets. But, despite crooked eyes, three children and the need to travel to Kyiv every weekend, I still enrolled in a production course. And she got a job at once on two television projects while studying at the School. Everything is possible? So! But on the condition that you know exactly what you want.

... "Hello everyone, my name is Yulia, and I am the future showrunner." It was with this message that I went to learn the basics of television production with Victoria Lezina - one of the best media managers in modern Ukraine. And I will say right away that the rest of the School's speakers were the same as the course curator. Creative and executive producers of the country's largest projects, screenwriters of the most successful series, directors of live broadcasts and specialists in marketing and sales of TV content. Make-up artists, casting managers, general directors of channels and heads of the development department and all genre areas of 1+1 production. In a fairly short period of time - only two and a half months - we learned everything and a little more about the work of the producer. What was most valuable was what the current players in the TV production industry taught us. But in addition to insider information, we got "access to the body" of the most influential people of the modern TV market. And then everything is in your hands. If you are a student without experience - please, you can get a job as an intern and prove yourself in the conditions of real work on the set. You can get a job on almost any project. Yes, it's free at first, but it's your decision and your chance. If you are a person with experience, you can offer your services and get paid work. The main thing is to know exactly where, with whom and with whom you want to work in the future.

In my case, the path to the position of creative producer of series or showrunner is through the work of a screenwriter. And in no other way. So, the opportunity to get such a job just happened - I took advantage of my chance. And she became the screenwriter of the series that 1+1 production is currently shooting for the 1+1 channel. The studies still continued, and I already had the opportunity to work with those who gave us lectures yesterday in the School auditorium. It so happened that at the same time I got a job as a screenwriter on another channel, also in a serial project. No, it's not like a fairy tale. After all, receiving this work was preceded by an independent study of drama for almost five years. Yes, I work very hard. Almost without taking your head off the monitor. Yes, I plan to move to Kyiv in the near future and still work not only as a screenwriter, but also to create and produce my own projects. Yes, there is still a long and thorny road to this. But I know where and to what I am going.

The only thing I want to wish future student-producers is to take off the crown. No one will run after you and offer you a job. You will need to work hard. A lot. No - you will simply be forced to careen like horses. And maybe then a new format or a cool series created by graduates of the Higher School of Media & Production will appear on Ukrainian television. At least I sincerely wish you that.
