Statement of "1+1" regarding the situation with the New Year issue of "Evening Quarter"

In the miniature about Pinocchio, there were indeed, in our opinion, episodes that could cause accusations of disrespect for sexual minorities. We apologize for this episode and assure you that we had no intention of offending anyone. TV channel "1+1" removed this episode from its library.

"1+1 media" is convinced that we should live in an open and tolerant society. That is why we do not want to avoid the topic of sexual minorities, which is a part of modern life, and we cover it, in particular, in news releases. At the same time, it is obvious that there are currently no standards for working with such a topic in the media, especially when it comes to humor. We are ready to provide our information platforms for such a discussion and invite other media groups, we are sure that this topic is important for the Ukrainian media space in general. Also, we, like the "Kvartal 95" studio, will in the future pay more attention to the choice, nature and approaches in covering topics that affect the respect and interests of sexual minorities.

We are sure that the situation can and should become an impetus for a constructive and open dialogue.
