Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2025: The Start Of A New Season During The "Educational Dialogues" In Dnipro
On March 25, the "Educational Dialogues" event took place in Dnipro, which became the official start of the new season of the national award Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2025.
Within the walls of Dnipro Lyceum No. 134, more than 150 educators gathered to discuss the challenges of Ukrainian education in wartime and improve their professional skills.
The special guest of the event was Lesya Pavlyuk, the winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024 and a finalist in the TOP-50 of the Global Teacher Prize 2025. She shared her own experience as a teacher and gave practical advice on effective teaching in modern realities.
“In recent years, the issue of child safety at school has become especially important, especially for younger students. Parents want to be sure that their children are not only safe, but also feel comfortable in the learning environment. Therefore, more and more attention should be paid to the emotional attitude of students, the formation of behavioral skills in unpredictable situations associated with both military risks and everyday threats. "It is also important to teach children how to act in accordance with safety rules and how to help others in critical situations," says Lesya Pavlyuk.
The event program included a panel discussion and a series of master classes. The finalists of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024 shared their experience in a series of master classes. Kateryna Korzun from Nikopol taught teachers to develop reading competences through working with media texts, and Yaroslav Fedko from Dnipro presented methods for teaching physics in shelter conditions. “For us, teachers, events like “Educational Dialogues” are primarily about psychological support. When you go outside your school and see other educational institutions, it’s a kind of magic that starts with the first step into the territory. As the head of the institution, I am interested in everything: from the organization of the cafeteria to shelters and recreational areas. And for teachers, the most valuable thing is the opportunity to hug and communicate in person, and not just through social networks,” says Kateryna Korzun.
“At the event, we demonstrated our own achievements, shared our personal views, and I saw how colleagues were actively recording and photographing something. This means that the knowledge and ideas gained will definitely be used in their work. Of course, changes do not happen instantly, but I always advocate evolution, not revolution. Each next step is the result of the work of previous generations of teachers. I am especially pleased with the large number of young teachers at the event - this indicates a growing interest in the topic of education. I dream that next year, not 10 or 13 thousand teachers, but 50 or even 100 thousand will participate in the competition. This will indicate even greater interest and involvement of educators,” says Yaroslav Fedko.
Special attention was paid to the issue of self-presentation: Denys Kontursky, a specialist in external education at 1+1 media school, conducted a training dedicated to creating a positive image of a teacher. After all, the ability to correctly present oneself not only increases the authority of a teacher, but also helps build trust among students, colleagues, and parents. “Important aspects of forming a positive image of a teacher are his authenticity and sincerity in interacting with students. A teacher should remain himself, not creating an artificial image, but instead build trusting relationships with children. It is also important to analyze your audience and choose words that will be understandable and close to students, so that the learning process is effective and comfortable,” says Denys.
The Global Teacher Prize Ukraine is designed to recognize teachers in Ukraine who make a significant contribution to the development of education and society.
The teacher can submit the questionnaire on the website until July 1. Or students, parents and colleagues can do it - there are no restrictions.
The winner will be determined in several stages and announced during the solemn ceremony on International Teachers' Day on October 4.
