Kyiv residents are invited to a discussion on film production during the war, where 1+1 media will share their experiences

What are the realities of Ukrainian film production during the ongoing war, where to find international grants and what content Ukrainian TV channels want to showcase—Kyiv residents and visitors are invited to an open discussion about Ukrainian cinematography organized by Kyivstar TV, the Ukrainian Film School, and 1+1 media

This Wednesday, August 28, at 7:00 PM, an outdoor cinema at VDNH's Polyana will host the next cinema lecture by Kyivstar TV and the Ukrainian Film School. This time, visitors will engage in the discussion "Film production during the war: the case study of 'One Family. The Wedding'" presented by speakers from 1+1 media.

Serhiy Karpenko, creative producer of the 2+2 channel and showrunner of various projects, Ruslan Sharipov, scriptwriter and host at 1+1 media, and Volodymyr Moskalets, the chief producer of serial projects at 1+1 Production, will share their experiences in creating films and TV series during the war.

The main topic of the discussion will be the future of Ukrainian film production under current wartime conditions. Using the example of the series "One Family. The Wedding" created during the full-scale invasion, the speakers will discuss the unique aspects of each production stage: from the idea and script development to securing funding, obtaining grants, the filming process, and finally, airing the product.

"One Family. The Wedding" is a Ukrainian four-episode series released in 2023 on the 2+2 channel. The story unfolds in a deoccupied mining town in the Luhansk region. Former friends Pavlo Dotsenko and Grysha Kulikov compete for the position of mayor. In their bid to win the favor of the townspeople, the candidates and their wives continuously argue and manipulate, leading to complex, convoluted, and sometimes humorous situations. Misunderstandings between the families persist even after the news of their children's engagement. But can these fierce rivals unite and become one family?

After the discussion, guests will have the opportunity to watch the first two episodes of "One Family. The Wedding" in the open-air cinema at VDNH's Polyana, with the support of Kyivstar TV. The location is at 1 Akademika Glushkova Avenue, Kyiv.

The open-air cinema is equipped with a generator and shelters from sun and rain. Entry to the event is free with prior registration. To secure a seating place, guests can simply buy anything nearby in the food court area.

Kyivstar TV and the Ukrainian Film School launched this cinema lecture series to boost interest in Ukrainian cinema and the people behind it. Kyiv residents have already had the opportunity to talk with actor and curator of the Ukrainian Film School's acting program Maksym Mykhailichenko, as well as the screenwriter of the animated film "Mavka. The Forest Song" and curator of the Ukrainian Film School's screenwriting program Yaroslav Voytsekhek and executive producer of FILM.UA Group and curator of the Ukrainian Film School's production program Kyrylo Horobets.

The media partners of the Kyivstar TV film lecture series are 1+1 media, tsn.ua, and Glavred, as well as the Kyiv lifestyle media TyKyiv.
