The programme of the first Ukrainian Film Academy Conference on 10-11 September is announced

This is a new platform for discussing topical issues of Ukrainian cinema development, a place for representatives of various film industry sectors to meet and communicate to establish cooperation and exchange experience. 

Full programme of the Ukrainian Film Academy Conference: 

Day 1, 10 September.

11:00-12:45. Discussion ‘Debriefing: releases of feature films and TV series’. Participants: Yevhen Tunik, director, screenwriter, case study - The Carrier series; Anton Skrypets, Head of Film Department, co-author and producer, case study - Stay Online; Oleg Shcherbyna, producer, case study - The House of Words. An Endless Romance; Valeriya Sochyvets, producer and director, case study - La Palisiada; Alyona Tymoshenko, co-producer of Pamphyr, founder and director of the Ukrainian Film School; Olga Panteleimonova, CEO and producer of UPHub Group, case study - Me, Victory and Berlin. 13:00-14:15. Discussion: Economics of documentary film production and international partnerships. 14:45-16:15. Discussion ‘Animation: author's and commercial projects in the context of a full-scale invasion’. Participants: Roman Liubyi, director; Darya Bassel, producer; Iryna Tsilyk, screenwriter, director; Anastasia Falileieva, director; 

Oleh Malamuzh, serial animation producer, director; Dmytro Belinsky, producer; Sofia Rozumenko, producer, curator, director of animated films and multimedia projects.  Moderator: Olena Holubieva, Executive Director of UAnimA (Ukrainian Animation Association), producer.

16:30-18:00. Discussion: Working with the audience, Kyiv Cinema Society, Cinema 42 and the Kinorobotnia educational project. Participants: Mark Wilkinson, director; Chad Gracia, producer; Ilko Gladstein, producer, managing partner of KINO42 cinema. Moderator: Natalia Libet, producer and cinephile. 

The first day of the Conference will also feature the awarding ceremony for the winners of the Sixth and Seventh Golden Dzyga National Film Awards. 

Day two, 11 September. 

11:00-12:15. Discussion ‘Distribution of Ukrainian documentaries in Ukraine and worldwide’. Participants: Anton Ptushkin, documentary filmmaker, director; Zoya Soshenko, producer (We, Our Pets and the War); Volodymyr Tykhyi, film director, producer, Head of Babylon 13; Denys Ivanov, producer, distributor (20 Days in Mariupol); Hanna Kapustina, producer (The Earth is Blue as an Orange); Olena Gapeeva, Head of Film Distribution at Green Light Films. 13:00-14:15. Discussion ‘Script as a driving force: from idea to the first day of shooting’. Participants: Zhanna Ozirna, director; Maksym Kurochkin, playwright, screenwriter; Marysia Nikitiuk, screenwriter, director; Serhiy Kastornykh, screenwriter, director. Moderator: Natalia Libet, producer, cinephile.

14:45-15:50. Discussion: Art and film projects for the Parajanov centenary. Participants: Taras Tomenko, film director; Serhiy Trymbach, film critic; Olena Honcharuk, winner of the competition for the position of Dovzhenko Centre's director general, head of the Dovzhenko Centre's Film Museum. Moderator: Katia Taylor, founder of Port of Culture.

16:00-17:45. Discussion: Realities of film production financing, case studies of projects produced after 2022. Participants: Oleksandr Shchur, producer, film Bucha; Olha Beskhmelnytska, producer (Generation Ukraine); Nariman Huseynov, Head of Partnerships, Investments and Development, FILM.UA Group. Moderator: Natalia Movshovych, Executive Producer for Festival Promotion (Department of External Production of Socially Influential Content and Co-Production), Public Broadcasting. 

On the second day of the Conference, the Eighth Golden Dzyga National Film Award ceremony will take place.
