"Independence Pie" Returns: 1+1 Media and 1+1 Ukraine Support the Gastronomic Tradition for the Country's Main Holiday
In less than a month, Ukraine will celebrate Independence Day — on this occasion, the all-Ukrainian initiative “Independence Pie” continues its active communication. The goal of the project remains unchanged: to create a new gastronomic tradition for every Ukrainian family, symbolizing unity, diversity and love for their own.
This public initiative was founded in 2024, and 1+1 Media immediately became its media partner. In fact, on August 24, in an 8-hour joint live broadcast of the “United News” telethon, the “Breakfast with 1+1” and TSN teams first presented the project. We suggest you remember how it was.
This year, “Independence Pie” is taking on new forms: an updated visual identity, even more partners, new activities, recipes, faces and even regions — but the main idea remains the same. The pie is one – the fillings are different, just like us, Ukrainians.
Traditionally, 1+1 Media, 1+1 Ukraine, “Breakfast with 1+1” and TSN are co-creators of the initiative and support it at various levels. Valentyna Khamayko, the host of 1+1 Ukraine, continues to support the project as its ambassador, and this year she will be joined by another leader of Ukrainian gastronomy — Kostyantyn Grubych, the host of 1+1 Ukraine. In “Breakfast with 1+1” and TSN, viewers will be able to see special thematic columns, new pie recipes, as well as inclusions from iconic places where “Pyrohy Nezalezhnosti” will be prepared together with Ukrainians.
The “Foodtruck – Food Without Borders” team, led by chef Oleg Bibikov, will also join the initiative. By August 24, they, together with Kostyantyn Grubych, will prepare over 2 thousand pies for the residents of the Kharkiv region — as a symbol of care, support and warmth, which can be conveyed even through pastries. A charity fair will also be held at the 1+1 Media office: the company's employees will prepare pies, treat colleagues and collect donations in support of Ukrainian defenders.

"Independence Pie" is not only about pastries, it is about warmth, togetherness and the belief that small gestures create great strength. This year we want to do even more - to show how this initiative has already spread across the country and how important it is for us to have something that unites us in difficult times," comments Yulia Zhmakina, producer of "Breakfast with 1+1", director of the morning broadcast department of 1+1 media and a member of the initiative group of the "Independence Pie" project.
