1+1 media summed up the results of the fight against piracy in 2023

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, this activity has become especially important, as, in addition to illegal retransmission of Ukrainian TV channels, Internet pirates usually provide viewers with access to the content of the aggressor state, thus spreading hostile propaganda and fakes. That is why a proactive stance and real steps to counteract illegal activities are an important part of 1+1 media's work as one of the largest rights holders and a member of the Clear Sky initiative.

In 2023, courts from different regions of Ukraine delivered 8 verdicts of conviction in criminal proceedings initiated by 1+1 media.

Thus, by the verdict of the Radomyshl District Court of Zhytomyr region dated 15.02.2023, the offender, who provided illegal cable TV services without concluding licence agreements with the rights holders, was sentenced under Part 3 of Article 176 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (copyright and related rights infringement committed on a particularly large scale) to 3 years' imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year 6 months. The court applied a special confiscation, seizing the offender's telecommunications equipment into state ownership.

21.02.2023 Malynovskyi District Court of Odesa sentenced a local resident to a fine under Part 2 of Art. 176 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, confiscating the instrument of the crime - a batch of set-top boxes that were reprogrammed to watch pirated streaming services - to the state.
